This article intends to analyze the internal dynamics of the Chinese reform process between 1978 and 1992, a period in which Deng Xiaoping headed the central government in China. Therefore, it analyzes how the reforms in the agricultural, industrial, science & technology and military sectors took place, in the midst of the strategy of the “four modernizations” undertaken by the State.
It also highlights the main determinants of the success of the reforms in these sectors, and how their positive results have contributed to the reduction of serious social problems, such as poverty, and the break with the international isolation of the Chinese economy.
