Abstract

This article analyses how the domestic and external market dynamics, the conduct of multinational companies and the domestic public policies acted in the configuration of the pulp and paper sector in Brazil from its origin to 2009. It was concluded that these elements acted in different forms and intensity on the industries that comprise the pulp and paper sector and, therefore, the configuration and evolution of these three industries (of pulp, papers and paper-made products) were differentiated throughout the time, implicating in distinct insertions in the international division of labor related to the activities under studying.
