Work teams are becoming more virtual, that is, geographically distant professionals, collaborating with each other more often, and their working and collaboration relationships are being mediated entirely by digital platforms. In these virtual environments, members interact, register, share, select and retrieve information in order to produce knowledge and carry out projects together. This scenario requires definitions of what a virtual team is. The paper studies the creative collaboration in the development of new products and highlights the most frequent problems and obstacles. From an analysis of relevant references in the area, it examines the features and resources that the digital platforms must meet and offer to carry out this work, such as organization and structure, standards, communication and evaluation.
