Towards an ecosemiotics of the Amazon
Signs of the anthropocene in tropical anthromes

This paper presents a transdisciplinary approach between semiotics, biology and anthropology in defense of an ecosemiotics that can understand the so-called “Amazons” and articulate different fields of research with each other. The living forms, whatever they may be, as well as the relief and components of landscapes – anthropic or not – show us how this vast South American region can be at the heart of reflections on the Anthropocene. Amid the acceleration – with no possibility of turning back – of the damage caused by the sapiens to the biota, it is urgent to think about the civilizational components of the native peoples, current or prehistoric ones, capable of offering us other models, structures and ways of dealing with other living beings. In this way, the focus falls on the remodeling of the anthromes, so that they become less deteriorated and serve as a buffer for us to face the catastrophes that are yet to come.
