Este artigo tem o objetivo de analisar a disciplina Complementos de Matemática nos cursos de Pedagogia (1939-1961) bem como o papel que tal disciplina exerceu sobre a atuação profissional do pedagogo. A pesquisa insere-se na perspectiva da História do Currículo, apoiando-se nas ideias centrais de Ivor Goodson (1997), que compreende o currículo como uma construção social. Por ser uma pesquisa histórica, trabalhou-se com análise documental e história oral como metodologias de pesquisa. Criada com o objetivo específico de auxiliar os cálculos da disciplina Estatística Educacional, a disciplina Complementos de Matemática trouxe uma ampliação para a área de atuação profissional do pedagogo que, com a obtenção da licença fornecida pelo Ministério da Educação, podia lecionar Matemática no primeiro ciclo do curso secundário, dentre outras disciplinas.
Abstract
This article presents a historical approach of the discipline Complements in Mathematics in the Pedagogy courses in its first phase of existence (1939-1961). The objective was to investigate the origins of the discipline, the content and proposed methods and their role in the professional acting teacher. The oral history and documentary analysis were used as methodological resources. Basing on the history of curriculum, the research dialogued especially with the ideas of Ivor Goodson to understand the curriculum as a social construct and investigate how and why certain knowledge is (or is not) taught in a particular historical context. Created with the goal of providing a conceptual basis of mathematics and assist in the calculation of Educational Statistics, the discipline Complements of Mathematics brought an expansion to the professional area of the pedagogue, who obtained the license for Teaching Mathematics in first cycle of secondary education.
