Abstract

This paper, which is a result of research, discusses different administrative decrees executed in the years 1950 and 1951 in the field of education in Colombia. Said decrees were based on different executive decisions made by the then Colombian president Laureano Gómez Castro and his ministers of education -Antonio Álvarez Restrepo and Rafael Azula Barrera- who, without any intermediation with the Colombian Congress, developed a conservative project that predicted progress for the Colombian nation based on executive decisions and an editorial policy. The central objective is to demonstrate, based on an archival collection of a statistical nature and documentation with resolutive and administrative characteristics of the government, that the project to achieve progress in Colombia was based mainly on using education as a cornerstone.
