Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of a flow equipment for respiratory muscle strength and endurance, exercise tolerance, and quality of life in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Method: This is a cross-sectional, experimental study, in which they were evaluated and treated nine patients with obstructive pulmonary disease chronic. In the assessment, respiratory muscle strength was measured using of the manovacuometer, the respiratory muscle resistance verified by the use of Threshold®, exercise tolerance examined by the test six-minute walk, quality of life assessed by Saint George Questionnaire on Respiratory Disease and, finally, the training was carried out with a flow respiratory stimulator. Results: There was a significant improvement in MIP compared to pre- and post-training values (-84.2±23.9 and -107.7±16.7; p=0.001), but there was no significant improvement in exercise, respiratory muscle endurance, and quality of life. Conclusion: Respiratory muscle flow training was effective in improving respiratory muscle strength in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.ne sample was observed, which indicates a possible state of dysbiosis.
