Capacidade de exercício em pacientes com síndrome da apneia obstrutiva do sono

A associação entre Síndrome da Apneia Obstrutiva do Sono (SAOS) e capacidade de exercício ainda não está bem determinada. Entretanto, sabe-se que muitos indivíduos portadores de SAOS apresentam respostas limitadas ao exercício físico. Tal achado, dentre outros fatores, pode estar relacionado à má qualidade de sono que acarreta, principalmente, sonolência diurna excessiva. O presente estudo objetivou realizar uma revisão de literatura sobre a capacidade de exercício em pacientes com SAOS. A estratégia de busca contemplou as bases de dados Pubmed, LILACS e SciELO. Foram realizadas três buscas em cada uma das bases, com as seguintes combinações de termos: “apneia” e “exercise” e “capacity”, “apnea” e “exercise” e “CPAP” e “apnea” e “cardiopulmonary” e “test”. Dos 108 artigos encontrados através da busca, 24 preencheram os critérios de inclusão do estudo e foram, então, analisados. Conclui-se que a capacidade física parece estar reduzida em pacientes com SAOS, estando o tratamento através de CPAP associado a uma melhora no desempenho físico.
