This theoretical essay proposes an initial model of career longevity in older workers, understood as the antithesis of disengagement. Based on a review of national and international literature, five promoting factors are identified: perceived organizational support, work centrality, career adaptability, perceived employability, and work volition. The model offers a foundation for future empirical research and contributes to understanding the voluntary extension of working life in the context of an aging population.
