Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not under review for publication by another journal.
  • The submission files are in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, or RTF format (provided they do not exceed 2MB).
  • All Internet page addresses (URLs) included in the text (e.g., http://www.ibict.br) are active and ready to be clicked.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics instead of underlining (except in URL addresses); with figures and tables inserted within the text, not at the end.
  • The text follows the stylistic standards and bibliographic requirements described in Author Guidelines, in the About the Journal section.
  • Author identification has been removed from the file and from the Word Properties option, thus ensuring the journal’s confidentiality criterion for peer review (e.g., articles).
  • The completion of the declaration of originality and originality of the submitted article must be accepted at the time of article submission.

Author Guidelines

The journal does not charge authors fees related to article submission (submission charges).

The journal does not charge authors fees related to article processing (Article Processing Charges – APC).

Manuscript submissions must be made through the journal’s website, in the following formats:

  • text: Microsoft Word

  • tables: Excel

  • charts and figures: PowerPoint


Regarding authors’ curricula

The author(s) must necessarily have a Lattes Curriculum and ORCID, duly registered, updated, and informed at the time of submission.


Regarding format

Original manuscripts must be presented in the following format:

  • Text file: Microsoft Word;

  • Tables: Excel (embedded in the text as “Microsoft Excel Sheet Object”);

  • Charts and figures: PowerPoint (embedded in the text as “Microsoft Office Graphic Object”);

  • Page: A4 size, left and top margins of 3 cm, right and bottom margins of 2 cm;

  • Line and paragraph spacing: 1.5 lines;

  • Font: Times New Roman:

    • Main text: 12 points;

    • Quotations longer than 5 lines: 11 points;

    • Footnotes: 10 points, separated from the text by a 5 cm line;

  • Paragraph indentation: 1 cm from the margin;

  • Alignment: fully justified.

Considering that the Journal of Careers and People is published exclusively in electronic format, footnotes are adopted in order to facilitate reading.


Text presentation

A standard format for text presentation is also established, following the criteria below:

  • Title: centered, all uppercase, bold, Times New Roman, 14 points;

  • Subtitle: on the line immediately below the title, all uppercase, bold, Times New Roman, 14 points;

  • Abstract in Portuguese: left-aligned, fully justified, maximum of 100 words, Times New Roman, 12 points, not indented, single paragraph;

  • The heading Resumo must be written in Times New Roman, 12 points, bold, only the first letter capitalized, not indented;

  • Keywords in Portuguese: left-aligned, fully justified, up to 3 words, Times New Roman, 12 points, not indented;

  • The heading Palavras-chave must be written in Times New Roman, 12 points, bold, only the first letter capitalized, not indented;

  • Abstract in English: left-aligned, fully justified, maximum of 100 words, Times New Roman, 12 points, not indented;

  • The heading Abstract must be written in Times New Roman, 12 points, bold, only the first letter capitalized, not indented;

  • Keywords in English: left-aligned, fully justified, up to 3 words, Times New Roman, 12 points, not indented;

  • The heading Keywords must be written in Times New Roman, 12 points, bold, only the first letter capitalized, not indented;

  • Resumen in Spanish: left-aligned, fully justified, maximum of 100 words, Times New Roman, 12 points, not indented;

  • The heading Resumen must be written in Times New Roman, 12 points, bold, only the first letter capitalized, not indented;

  • Palabras clave in Spanish: left-aligned, fully justified, up to 3 words, Times New Roman, 12 points, not indented;

  • The heading Palabras Clave must be written in Times New Roman, 12 points, bold, only the first letter capitalized, not indented;

  • Section headings: numbered, only the first letter capitalized, Times New Roman, 12 points, bold, not indented;

  • Pages must not be numbered;

  • Notes, when necessary, must be footnotes, Times New Roman, 10 points;

When preparing References and In-text Citations, authors must adopt the criteria defined by the American Psychological Association (APA). Official rules for this citation system are available at:

Regarding the length of submitted articles

The maximum accepted length for submissions is 8,000 (eight thousand) words (including References), and the minimum length is 6,000 (six thousand) words.


Regarding the use of charts, tables, figures, and formulas

Preferably use PowerPoint and Excel to create charts, tables, figures, and formulas.

Charts, tables, figures, and formulas must be created separately and inserted into the text using the “INSERT” command.

NOTE: Charts, tables, figures, and formulas inserted into the text by copy and paste or created directly within the text editor will not be accepted.
