Abstract

Este artigo possui como objetivo analisar a carreira de artesãos que trabalham esculpindo madeira. Esta categoria de trabalhadores foi escolhida como objeto de investigação, pois apesar da importância histórica, social e cultural, observa-se escassez de pesquisas científicas que analisem o artesanato à luz dos Estudos Organizacionais (FARIA; SILVA, 2017) e a carreira destes profissionais (DUARTE; SILVA, 2013). O referencial teórico abordado procura compreender a carreira do artesão a partir da craft career e carreira criativa. Este estudo se caracteriza como de abordagem qualitativa, realizado a partir de entrevistas com cinco artesãos. Os resultados indicam predominância de artesãos do sexo masculino nesta atividade e maturidade relativa ao tempo no ofício. Em geral, iniciaram no ofício por influência familiar e dedicam-se exclusivamente ao artesanato. Ademais, os avanços tecnológicos impactaram no desenvolvimento da carreira através da facilitação na comercialização das peças. Assim, o presente trabalho busca contribuir para a compreensão da carreira profissional de artesãos, bem como ampliar publicações científicas relacionadas a esta temática.
