Quality of life at work in the banking sector: a study in public and private bank branches in Cuiabá and Várzea Grande – MT

Abstract

With the advent of new technologies and especially after the Banking Restructuring, which began around the 1980s, banking work underwent several changes. In this sense, the present study aims to verify and evaluate the main variables that most impact the Quality of Life at Work (QLW) of bank workers, whether positive or negative, through a descriptive quantitative study, applied to 33 employees of public and private banks in the cities of Cuiabá and Várzea Grande – MT under the theoretical model of Walton (1973). The results show that the perception of QLW among bank employees is relative and varies from individual to individual. However, it was possible to verify positive points such as “fair and adequate compensation”, regarding the benefits offered by the company, “social integration”, highlighting personal integration, and “social relevance”, especially the pride in performing the function. In addition, negative points such as "working conditions", with an emphasis on physical and mental well-being, and "opportunities" with a focus on the occurrence of layoffs.
