Abstract

The article presents a pragmatic interpretation of the arguments of two renowned thinkers, John McDowell and Donald Davidson, about the relationship between the human mind and the world. According to this interpretation, both thinkers work to dissolve dualisms and to defend everyday realism. The basic disagreement is on the epistemological role of sensorial experiences: whether they fulfill (McDowell) or not (Davidson) this role of belief justifiers.
