Most views of personal identity are based upon either psychological or materialistic principles. This paper approaches the conception of the self from the standpoint that the principles of signification/representation are primary to any consciousness or recognition of the self, and tries to unveil some key consequences concerning the self through an application of Peirce’s Semiotic to the conception of the Self and by drawing on many novel insights Charles Peirce had on the issue of personal identity.Downloads
