About the Journal

Cognitio: Revista de Filosofia (ISSN: 2316-5278), or only Cognitio, was created in 2000 as the official publication vehicle of the Center for Pragmatism Studies of the Postgraduate Studies Program in Philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, aiming at publishing the papers, conferences and roundtables presented at the International Meetings on Pragmatism.

The content published in Cognitio is, directly or indirectly, connected to themes that interest or have interested "pragmatism" understood as a prominent philosophical stance that unites authors of diverse thoughts such as Peirce, James, Dewey and other contemporary thinkers. However, the content is not necessarily or directly linked to these authors, but rather encompasses issues pertinent to the range of discussions held by them, such as the theory of knowledge, semiotics, logic, philosophy of language, ethics, and metaphysics.

The editorial board of Cognitio is composed of researchers from various educational and research institutions, all with doctoral degrees. Currently, 50 % are affiliated with international institutions and, among Brazilians, about 65 % are affiliated with institutions in the state of São Paulo due to the higher concentration of researchers in this state, with the other members coming from other states, thus ensuring institutional and regional diversity.

The abbreviated title of the journal is Cognitio which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes, references and bibliographic captions.
