Abstract

In this paper the author reflects on the problem of generalizing in a pluralistic society. According to him, what is much needed in our post-modern era is an ethical perspective that, on the one hand, does not disregard the different particular, empirical settings in which moral criteria emerge and are being developed, and, on the other hand, endorses the possibility of pursuing common goals and ideals. This perspective is developed through a reconstruction of a dialog between Kant and Peirce.
