Abstract

This paper presents a reconstitution of the main theses that Stephen Toulmin supports in the book The Uses of Argument. More specifically, it seeks to justify, from the exposition of the categories of the layout of arguments developed by the author; one of the central arguments of the above-mentioned work: the Logici tradicion favored the deductive-analytical model of argument, which, however, is an exceptional type, and therefore, unusual in everyday speech; consequently, the usual categories of Logic aren't enough for a practical evaluation of arguments.
