Abstract

In the last two decades, the aesthetics of the everyday has become an important topic of debate among philosophers in the Anglophone tradition. This theory contemplates the possibility that everyday life is the source of aesthetic experiences, as well as a critique of the classical aesthetic tradition. Both elements are also present and central to the pragmatist aesthetics developed by John Dewey in the first half of the 20th century. In this brief essay, an approximation of the two theoretical projects is made through a common axis of question, namely the dilemma of how it is possible to relate aesthetics and everyday life.
