Abstract

The recovery of the memory and work of women pragmatist philosophers that began in the 1990s by Charlene Haddock Seigfried culminated in the revision of the historical canon of pragmatism, to which a series of new names were added, including that of Charlotte Perkins Gilman (1860-1935). Although better known in the literary circle, Gilman has been considered a pragmatist philosopher in recent interpretations due to both her contextual proximity to the pragmatists of the Golden Age and the proximity of her reflective method and the issues she addresses. This paper aims to introduce Portuguese-speaking readers to this relationship from biographical facts and from her books of non-fiction.
