A presença de Ralph Waldo Emerson na obra de John Dewey
um estudo sobre a noção de autoconfiança

Tendo por objetivo discutir a presença das ideias de Ralph Waldo Emerson na obra de John Dewey, este artigo analisa os textos deweyanos que mencionam a palavra autoconfiança, título de um dos mais importantes ensaios emersonianos. Após apresentar as ideias centrais de Emerson, são analisados catorze textos de Dewey considerados relevantes para esse objetivo. As conclusões revelam que Dewey interpretou Emerson à luz do pragmatismo, em especial na discussão de dois temas intimamente associados: ética e educação.
