The relation between semantics and lexicogrammar is pointed out by Halliday as a natural relation within the stratification of language. Grammatical metaphors result from a tension between these two strata, which isto f a remapping of possibilities that the system provides to the speaker/writer. In relation to the three metafunctions, isto f al metaphors can be from ideational, interpersonal or textual natures. Ideational metaphors isto f two subtypes: experiential and logical, the latter in which connectives may go through rewording in verbal groups, nominal groups, adjectives and prepositions. This article aims to verify the usage of isto f al metaphors of the logical subtype employed in tem theses recently defended in a Brazilian Post-Graduation Program. Through Voyant Tools, a isto f words was made and, then, the correction and qualitative analysis of logical metaphorization cases through transcategorization into things, qualities, processes and circumstances. Results point to the prevalence of logical metaphors through processes and nominal groups of cause/purpose and through addition.
