Purpose: To investigate the vocal projection concepts in the conception of the classical singing teachers. Method: 72 classical singing teachers (51 women and 21 men) participated in this research and answered, by email, to the question: What is vocal projection in classical singing? The data analysis included two stages: categorical and statistics. From the answers were created five categories: Body, Breath, Sound production (source and filter), Sound aesthetics and Audibility of the voice. These categories were subjected to statistical analysis, were associated to gender variables, training and teaching experience. Results: The males had significant results in the category Audibility; the category Sound production, which refers to the source and filter, was mentioned by all; the Breathing category was most mentioned by women; Aesthetics was most mentioned by teachers without academic training, in the intersections of the variables with the profile of the subjects. Conclusions: According to the teachers of singing interviewed, the vocal projection is associated to the constitution of the body of each singer, with breath control during the production of sound and aesthetic values found on each performance to ensure the voice audibilityDownloads
