Relações entre voz, trabalho e saúde: percepções de professores

Introduction: The work environmental factors, conditions and organization in schools interfere, predispose and determine teachers’ health and quality of life and must be known and considered in educative actions aiming at vocal health. Objective: To know teachers’ perceptions concerning relations between voice, health and work and to investigate changes resulting from participation in a voice workshop group. Methods: Subjects were teachers working on a private school of Piracicaba city, São Paulo. Two Focal Groups were developed – one before and the other after the subjects’ participation in a voice workshop group. The subjects’ discourses were recorded and transcribed for content analysis. Results: 1 – Teaching and impacts in health, quality of work and private life were identified according to the following thematic axis: work organization (work overload and social relationships with pupils, colleagues and pupils’ family members) and work environment; 2 – Perceptions about voice and its alterations; 3 – Caring for voice, vocal health/vocal hygiene. Conclusion: voice workshop group makes possible perceptions about environment and work organization in relations between voice, work and health; changes in teacher’s attention and perception about voice and extension of vocal health knowledge and care.Downloads
