Abstract
Abstract This article analyzes the musical piece Cuban Landscape with Rain (1984), composed by the Cuban Leo Brouwer (1939) for four guitars, using the categories of the discursive semiotics. Considering the musical possibilities of the greimasian theory developed by Tarasti and Monelle, the text examines the relation between the expression plane and the contents plane in the instrumental music, showing how the compositional virtuosity of Brouwer in the deep structure, narrative grammar and discursive structures can be hidden under an apparent simplicity in the manifestation. Keywords instrumental music, narrativity, semiotic square.Metrics
