From symbolic interactionism to language games: the social production of meaning
Keywords:
symbolic interactionism, language games, mimesis, rituals, habitus.Abstract
This paper is part of a research series that I have been doing on the social production of meaning in communicative processes. I hereby present a brief introduction referring to the “place” this communication occupies in the social sciences (particularly on Claude Lévi-Strauss’ reflections), the way this question was positioned inside the so-called “Symbolic Interaction”, as well as the way Wittgenstein develops his re ections on “Language Games”. With that, I intend to contribute to the construction of an interdisciplinary analysis of communicative processes in the communication studies field.
