Virtual reality and the logic of space
Keywords:
French semiotics, virtual reality, spatiality.Abstract
The goal of this article is to promote a reflection on the expression virtual reality, created in the 80’s by computer scientist Jaron Lanier, reaching later the terms augmented reality and increased virtuality. The approach is based on the theoretical tools of French semiotics, notably the semiotic square proposed by Algirdas Julien Greimas. The considerations put forward to propose the recognition of spatiality as one of the possible interacting axes to enable thinking about the emergence of different types of images in contemporaneity and the forms of interaction explored from them.
