Abstract

Contemporary journalistic discourse: between secretiveness and the production of differences — Nowadays, the issue of the representation of differences is a relevant one, in view not only of the technological advances that favor and enhance the production of mediatic discourses but also the notion of a libidinal power installed in globalized societies. From this perspective, this essay discusses the production of journalistic discourses, aiming to encourage reflections of a cultural nature. Aware of the polarization and pulverization of discourses today, we follow along with Foucault and, in the light of Flusser’s reasoning about technical images and their indicative information, we suggest that, from the standpoint of journalistic discourse, it is essential to understand the ways in which news is presented.

Fernando Antônio Resende, Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (UFOP), Minas Gerais - Brasil

Doutor em Ciências da Comunicação pela Universidade de São Paulo (2002, Mestre em Estudos Literários pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (1995) e graduado em Comunicação Social - Jornalismo pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais (1988). Professor do curso de Comunicação Social - Jornalismo, da Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (UFOP). Foi pesquisador visitante (Faperj 2007/2008), na Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), no departamento de Mídia e Estudos Culturais, e no Centro de Estudos Sociais da Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal (Bolsa CES/2003). Tem experiência na área de Comunicação, com ênfase em Teoria e estudos da Comunicação e do Jornalismo, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: jornalismo, narrativas, cultura, comunicação e espaço público. Atual coordenador do GT Estudos do Jornalismo, na COMPÓS - Associação Nacional dos Programas de Pós-Graduação em Comunicação.
