Abstract

Research on design and cinema: production design — This article gives a brief overview of research in the field of design and cinema, and points to a new path: research of production design. This term used to be known as art direction, which consists of the study of sets, props, objects and actors. One of the hypotheses propounded here is that the techniques of digital image post-production favor the shift from art direction to production design. The second hypothesis explored here is the historical research of the term production design and its relation with its predecessor — art direction.
