From Fact to Event: Tensivity in Telejournalistic Reporting — The fact, an instant that stands out in the amorphous continuity of the quotidian, becomes an event in telejournalistic reporting, that can produce a moment of satiety in the viewers. Analyzed in the fusion of image and report, according to the dimensions of tensive grammar, a news report (2007) will be investigated along two distinct tensive lines: (i) the line of intensive syntax, which involves the course in the relation between acceleration/relaxation, and the tonicity in the relation between amplification/attenuation; (ii) the line of extensive syntax, which involves the temporality and spatiality in the relation between concentration/diffusion and screening/mixing. The relations and gradations contained in the text will reveal the “allure” of the enunciatory praxis through the concessive dimension and the set of literal and cultural operations it triggers, enabling the prosaic material of the natural world to become a true and unique spectacle.Metrics
