Abstract

: Media and transnational migration in the contemporary scene — This work by Brazilian (Unisinos) and Spanish (UAB) researchers, which describes the findings of an empirical re- search on media reception involving European and Latin American migrants in Porto Alegre and Barcelona, was developed under the aegis of the Academic Program for Brazilian-Spanish International Cooperation (CAPES-MEC). Based on a reconstruction of the interviewees’ experi- ences of identity and migration, the book analyzes how migrants make use of mass media and their perceptions about the mediatic construction of migrations and of the spaces of integration (European Union and MERCOSUR) as managers of migration policies. The mediatic reception focuses on interrelationships with the processes of citizenship of transnational migrations.
