Abstract

Between cinema and contemporary art — How is the new media changing the original architectural, technological, and discursive dimensions of the “device” cinema? How do these experiments create new displacements or points of departure from the instituted representation model? The notion of “device” allows us to rethink cinema, avoiding cleavages and technological, historical and aesthetic determinisms. Unlike the dominant cinema, several cinematographic works reinvent the cinematographic “device”, multiplying screens, exploiting other durations and intensities, transforming the projection room architecture, and entertaining other relations with spectators.
