Abstract

This article proposes thinking on the challenges faced by journalism in the digital age, marked by technological transformations that weaken its industrial foundations and reduce its expressive power. By the way, this article analyzes the American alternative publication San Francisco Oracle as an aesthetic and conceptual model to reflect on the reinvention of journalism in the digital age. The hypothesis is that the uncritical adoption of contemporary technological resources has contributed to the expressive weakening of journalism. Based on a theoretical-critical approach, the article revisits the graphic and countercultural experiments of the Oracle and articulates them with concepts such as counterculture, integrated mind, expanded journalism, and Temporary Autonomous Zone (TAZ). A parallel is drawn between the psychedelic aesthetics of the underground newspaper and the current dilemmas of digital communication, suggesting alternative paths to recover journalism's inventiveness and critical force.
