<b>Cidade, multiplicidade e fluxos culturais</b>

Resumo

Resenha do livro que reúne ensaios produzidos entre 1999 e 2001 por Lucrécia Ferrara, abordando temas que vão desde o design industrial, a semiótica visual do espaço, até o estudo multidisciplinar da ciência. O texto busca mostrar que o livro, mais do que reunir trabalhos de diferentes enfoques, reflete o comprometimento da autora em discutir questões extremamente relevantes no mundo acadêmico atual, como os princí­pios definidores da comunicação, a relação entre comunicação e cultura, o estudo da cidade e a intervenção das mí­dias digitais neste espaço e a chamada “globalização” do espaço urbano. Palavras-chave design, mediação, visibilidade Abstract This review of a compilation of essays written between 1999 and 2001 by Lucrécia Ferrara. The book deals with subjects ranging from industrial design and the visual semiotics of space, to the multi-disciplinary study of science. The text sets out to show that the book, more than simply bringing different works together, reflects the commitment of the author to the discussion of issues crucial to the current academic environment, such as the defining principles of communication, the relationship between communication and culture, urban studies and the part played by digital media in this field as well as the so-called globalization of urban space.
