Abstract

This article reports on part of a research of qualitative intent regarding the presence of integration between verbal text and visual text in the Caderno do Aluno. The study involved the selection and analysis of excerpts of the Caderno do Aluno of English of the first year of high school. The analysis of the corpus was carried out by means of
the Systemic-Functional Discourse Analysis of Painter, Martin and Unsworth (2013). The results show that the events of verbal-visual integration found in the corpus work, primarily, as support for language practice or to aid in vocabulary comprehension.
