FROM ORIGINAL TO NUTELLA: THE CONSTRUCTION OF IDENTITYMARKS AND STIGMATIZATION OF INDIGENOUS UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
Keywords:
indigenous, original Indian, stigmas, social identityAbstract
Through the binomial "Original to "Nutella", this paper analyzes excerpts from three interviews, conducted with indigenous students entering the university between 2014 and 2016, at a public university located in southern Amazonas, on the stigmas (GOFFMAN, 2017) and the meaning of the expression "original Indians" (NASCIMENTO, 2018), both created by non-Indians, examining the identity marks (MOITA LOPES, 2006, 2003) built on indigenous students. The results of the analysis point to the insistence of stigmas and identity marks that continue to disseminate certain demarcations and, consequently, segregations towards indigenous populations.
