This article aims at discussing the relationship between methodology and technology in language teaching. Firstly, we review the role of technology in the most popular language teaching methods. Secondly, we discuss the Postmethod pedagogy proposed by Kumaravadivelu (1994, 2001, 2003) and the active methodologies (MORAN, 2013, 2015; MATTAR, 2017), since we consider that both fit into a perspective of education that is concerned with the construction of knowledge, empowerment and the development of participation of students and teachers. Finally, we discuss the need of offering teachers education projects based on critical thinking that aim at engaging them with this proposal.
