Abstract

The aim of this paper is to investigate the relationship between grammar and discourse by examining the role that morphosyntactic structures play in communication. Critical discourse analysis can be made from text microstructure by examining the lexicogrammatic choices made, as if texts were a slate in which ideological conditions are embedded in discourse macrostructure. The research isbased on Systemic Functional Linguistics, which has methods and instruments that reveal these conditions. The investigation shows that morphosyntactic constructs such as passivization, nominalization, or lexical items with suggestive connotations in appropriate context support understandings and ideological consequences.
