Abstract

This work investigates the use of digital technology for learning English as a foreign language (EFL). In order to do so, we developed a case study (GERRING, 2019) with a group of thirty-one students of the English-Language teaching undergraduate course at the Federal University of Pará (acronym in Portuguese: UFPA). The survey data were generated by applying a questionnaire. The study is grounded on the perspective of educational technology (DAMÁSIO, 2007; MORAN (2012); INTERNET MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE IN BRAZIL, 2018; among others). The results of the research indicate the access to the Internet through the use of cell phone and the performance of activities that provide the learning of English. Furthermore, different websites and YouTube videos are used as well. In this sense, the study suggests that students of this research are responsible for their learning.
