DOSSIER: Clóvis Moura: a restless activist and intellectual

2023 marks the 20th anniversary of the death of Clóvis Moura (1925-2003), an intellectual who dedicated his political and intellectual career to providing support for the working class and social movements, based on his research that resulted in important works on the struggle of classes in Brazil, with a focus on the protagonism of black workers' struggles. Moura's work has stimulated research on his works, but also supported studies on history and class struggle in contemporary Brazil. There is no doubt that interest in the works of the communist author has been one of the main means of enriching knowledge - in the field of human sciences as a whole - about the role of Africans in the diaspora, as responsible for dynamizing the struggles for the emancipation of the working class, especially in Brazil.
In this sense, this dossier on Clóvis Moura is intended to receive work from researchers who, based on the Moorish framework, have been dedicated to examining the formation of the working class in Brazil at different times: from state violence, to exploitation class capitalist and the manifestation of racism as an ideological weapon of domination, and reaching the cultural forms of resistance, especially the anti-racist struggle movements, among others. It is also expected to receive texts that result from the dedication to the study of Moura's work itself, which connect aspects of his production, highlight gaps, debate methods and contributions of this powerful and fundamental author of Brazilian social thought.
Contributions from researchers who propose theoretical-methodological approaches characterized by interdisciplinarity and dialogue between different areas of knowledge (political science, political economy, sociology, history, education, social work, law, etc.) will be welcome.
This dossier also marks the expansion of dialogue between research groups and researchers, as well as the dissemination of collective efforts to maintain the work of Clóvis Moura as a weapon against imperialist irrationalism, highlighting anti-racism as an emancipatory foundation.

The purpose of the dossier is to generate Marxist research and analyzes on such issues. Deadline for sending texts: October 15, 2023.

Dirs. of dossier:  Weber Lopes Góes (CEP-UNIFESP); Márcio Farias (USP); Maria Helena Elpídio (UFES)

Lutas Sociais also has a policy of regularly accepting texts on diverse topics for inclusion in the "Articles" section; and critical reviews of relevant books for the Social Sciences.
