Abstract

Our aim was to verify the constitution of the reader in poor classes, the influences of affection, who are the mediators and the influence of social environment in the process. We selected six teenagers from a public school in the southern area of Recife, for appointed by librarians and / or through informal observations in the school library. Initially, there was an interview to get aspects of life history and reading, interests, academic trajectory and conceptions of reading and reader. Subsequently, two girls and a boy, all 17 years old, were selected, those with the most representative histories, to whom a second interview was done for further clarification. It was observed that in the three cases, there is another one, a mediator with whom the reader must have affective ties – admiration, dependency, pleasure, and interest. Another one who also may be the culture, such as the book.
