Abstract

The current work, in the light of the Cultural-Historical Psychology, aims to establish connections between the educational psychology and the literary art as a basis to the challenges faced by educators and psychologists to what concerns the relation between the family and the school nowadays. To do so, this work is based on Balzac’s works, which were very representative on the 19th century, also being a considerable resource to provide information about the social relations and family ties which are intimately related to the movement of social transformation. In conclusion, the act of analyzing the family through a historical view is a valuable tool for the educational psychology due to the fact that it encapsulates current issues like human questions, raising the possibility for creating new intervention practices in school and family grounds.
