Evaluation of a program of education to enable mothers as support agents of studying

Abstract

Parents are important agents in the creation of conditions for acquisition of appropriate repertoires and modification of inappropriate repertoires of study in small children, however frequently they are not prepared for that. The objective of the present research was to evaluate the results of training mothers of children with history of academic failure as promoters of appropriate study behaviors in these children. The training consisted in individual meetings between the researcher and three mothers, been presented information, exercises solution and discussions about relevant aspects to the promoting of appropriate study behaviors in children. One mother completed all the research stages, but changes in verbalizations of all these mothers were observed, in the objectives program direction.
