Laboratories of psychology in teaching courses of São Paulo: the rising of psychometry

Abstract

This article relates the circumstances and the people who order the installation of psychological laboratories in some Normal Teacher’s Colleges of São Paulo in the second decennium of twenty century, with the purpose to build pedagogy as a science rooted on the psychology and anthropology basis. It introduces the Clemente Quaglio’s work, who directed the Normal Teacher’s College Laboratory in 1912. It also describes the Ugo Pizzoli’s retrospective in Italy, examines aspects about his participation in Brazil.
