Academic Motivation and its Relation to Academic Performance: A Study with Graduate Course Students in Administration

Abstract

Considering the importance of statistical training for the administrator training, as well as the relevance of academic motivation for good student performance, comes as research objective: to investigate the way how is the interaction of academic motivation, both in relation to note and in relation to the perception of performance of students in the course of Directors of Statistics of disciplines. We used a sample of 278 undergraduates respondents Administration of a questionnaire that addressed aspects of performance perception, Academic Motivation Scale and characterization (profile). The survey found greater motivation in male students than female, and identified be demotivating level difference depending on the area of interest of the student. As main conclusion it appears that the relationship between the types of motivation and academic performance is characterized as large discussion area, requiring further research to elucidate.
