Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to test the applicability of a Quality of Working Life model (QWL). Specifically, it sought to describe the model of QVT adopted, to analyze QWL indicators and factors from the perspective of professors of public institutions and to check the suitability of that model to assess QWL in public sector institutions. An online questionnaire was applied at two different times. The sample was initially composed by 354 professors of Minas Gerais and 317 professors from Quebec. In the second phase, respectively, 274 and 252 professors participated. Data were collected between January and May 2013. Correlation analysis showed that both the indicators as well the analyzed factors showed results consistent with the reference model. The results show that the complementary constructs related to the meaning of work were also consistent with previous research that supported the construction of the systemic model of QWL analysis.
