The text addresses text recycling in the academic context, also known as self-plagiarism, which consists of the unauthorized reuse of parts or complete articles written by the author without proper citation or reference. This practice can compromise the integrity of academic production, violate copyright, and undermine the reliability of the scientific process. Recycling can also distort author originality perceptions and make identifying verified information challenging. The demand for academic productivity is one of the motivating factors identified, but ethical self-citation is a legitimate practice that contextualizes previous research. Promoting an academic culture based on intellectual honesty and ethical responsibility is essential for genuinely advancing knowledge in all areas of knowledge.
