This editorial examines epistemological ruptures in the field of Management, questioning the persistence of instrumental rationality, considering contemporary demands for responsible, plural, and socially engaged management. Despite technical and operational advances, the epistemological foundations of the field remain rooted mainly in functionalist and universalist assumptions, limiting the social relevance of management knowledge. The text emphasizes epistemology as a critical axis for rethinking scientific rigor, editorial policies, and research and teaching practices. Maurício Serva’s work is highlighted as a key reference for consolidating substantive rationality grounded in ethics and pragmatism, contributing to repositioning Management as a public, reflexive, and epistemologically plural applied social science.References
