Abstract

The article seeks to reflect on some of the most used sources in research about fashion, clothing, apparel and attire. From the consideration that the attires are sources that contain wide range of information and that indicate possibilities of understanding of the societies in their different periods and contexts. These sources can be searched through their physical support, the clothing itself, or, when it no longer exists, through imagetic support, especially the photograph - here understood as document. The objective of the reflection is to itemize and discuss some possibilities of use by the researchers of the attire and/or photographs that present them and the expected results of these uses in the study of the dressing forms
