Abstract

The article deals with the business interests during the Brazilian civil-military dictatorship involved in cases of "corruption". Specifically we work with the contractors in the work of the Tucuruí hydroelectric plant, built between 1975 and 1984. The text proceeds a brief theoretical reflection on the theme of "corruption", problematizes the occurrence of cases during the dictatorship and makes an empirical and analytical treatment of the construction companies performance and their involvement with irregularities in the work of Tucuruí. From the use of journals, official data from Eletronorte, memoirs of agents of the companies involved, we analyse the case and defend the hypothesis of dispute by the public fund as a possible explanation for the use of illegal practices by companies.
