Abstract

This work consists of a socio-historical recapitulation of the presence of the Catholic Church in the state of Pará. Region of Brazil since its occupation was mainly occupied by the Portuguese and had the support of the Catholic Church. Since the sixteenth century various Catholic religious orders developed indoctrination methods with Indians, blacks and the local population in order to deploy model of society based on Christian principles. We will use as methodology the bibliographical references of the main authors who discuss the presence of this religious matrix in one of the main areas of the Brazilian Amazon.
